Braid Oil Club is launched

A new oil club has just been formed to serve the Braid Area with the aim of providing residents of Broughshane and district with lower fuel prices.

The Club, which has received a start-up grant from Ballymena Borough Council, aims to allow those who normally order smaller amounts of heating oil, to benefit from being part of a much larger order.

“Keeping our homes warm during the winter can be very costly,’ says Club Chairman, Geoff Aiken.

“It is often those who can least afford it who are charged the higher amount because they are only ordering smaller quantities. We hope to be able to provide those people within the Braid area with an alternative way to order their oil.”

Braid Oil Club intends to place an order each month and has a minimum order limit of 200 litres. Possible savings will vary depending on the amount of oil ordered but it is expected that everyone, but especially those ordering smaller amounts, will save by ordering through the club which already has a membership of 30.

Broughshane Community Association Chair, Lexie Scott said: “We are delighted that this money saving initiative has been started in this area and hope that it will get great support from the people of the Braid district.”
