The Cedar Foundation offers a brain injury service which aims to help individuals achieve personal goals and Lawrence says the foundation helped him regain his confidence.

He explained: “At the start I was very withdrawn and sat in the house most of the time and watched TV. After being referred to Cedar in 2012 they helped me get the confidence to start a course in capacity building. Following that I decided to try Numeracy and Literacy in Southern Regional College. I was given support from Cedar to enrol on the courses. While doing the courses I received one to one support from Cedar staff which was a great help.

“I also attended the internal training with Cedar and this helped to build my confidence even further for all my activities.”

Lawrence added: “Without Cedar’s support I don’t think I would be where I am today. I have passed my Level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy and I am now enrolled on an ICT course and I am enjoying that as well. I can’t thank Cedar enough for given me a second chance and a new lease of life.”

The 28 year old recently picked up an award from the Department for Employment and Learning in recognition of his achievement at the Southern Regional
College.

This can have a life changing effect on the lives of individuals, their families and carers. Cedar’s Brain Injury Services aim to enable people surviving Brain Injury to achieve their personal goals for returning to work, gaining qualifications and having an active life.
