Brave Emmy cuts hair for cancerkids and donates over £1,000

Artigarvan mum Laura Mitchell Dunn is proud as punch of her brave daughter Emmy, who shortly before her seventh birthday last Tuesday (April 7), had her hair cut in aid of the Little Princess Trust and the Merryn Lacy Fund.

The Little Princess Trust is a charity that fundraises and makes wigs for children who lose their hair as a result of cancer treatment.

The Merryn Lacy Fund, as will be well known to Sentinel readers, was of course a fighting fund set up to help little Merryn Lacy, fight neuroblastoma.

Following Emmy’s fundraising efforts Laura explained: “Emmy decided to share her hair for other children who need wigs because they are fighting cancer.

“She has raised over £1000 - 722 euros was donated to the Merryn Lacy and £375 to the Little Princess Trust.

“Special thanks to Emmy’s school, Artigarvan Primary School and Community Nursery who raised £250 for Emmys charities with their non uniform day. “A past pupil Ellie Hayes also presented Emmy with £250, which she raised from selling loom bands.

“Emmy was given full salon treatment courtesy of Joanne Loughlin Hairdressing free of charge. “

Laura went on to thank everyone who contributed to Emmy’s fundraising efforts.

“The support has been amazing and Emmy hopes to grow her hair again so she can do it all over again,” she said.

“We hope othe children will also be inspired to donate their hair for such a good causes.”
