Break-ins take place at construction sites

Detectives in Lisburn are appealing for information following the burglaries.

In the first incident, a construction site close to the Sprucefield Park and Ride was entered sometime on the night of July 16 and a number of generators and transformers, and welding equipment worth thousands of pounds were stolen.

In the second incident workers at a building site on Brokerstown Road reported break-ins to new build houses. Gas boilers were stolen on the same night.

In the third incident, a garage connected to commercial premises at Meadow Road Moira was also entered. A power washer and a child’s quad bike were stolen.

Detective Inspector Martin Cummings said that he would appeal to members of the public to report any suspicious activity immediately to police by calling 999. He said that this can help officers respond quickly to a crime which is in progress and potentially apprehend suspected criminals.

“Large vehicles would have been needed to move these items and we are appealing for anyone who saw such a vehicle near any of these areas at strange times of the day, possibly even overnight, to contact us,” he said.

“We would also appeal to anyone who is offered items like these for sale through unofficial sources to report it to police.
