Breakfast forat risk kids

LONDONDERRY child protection lobbyists hope to raise awareness and funds for vulnerable local children with a fundraising breakfast at the Waterfoot Hotel on Tuesday, October 16.

Members of the new National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) Foyle Group launched the drive this week.

New group member, Alan-Lee Creswell, is a Telecommunications Engineer for BT in Foyle and the creator of TRY Development, a rugby development programme for local children. He said: “I joined the NSPCC fundraising group over the summer and have really enjoyed it so far. I can’t wait to be involved in the events we’ve planned over the next few months to raise much needed funds so that local children can have a better and brighter future.

“We need the support of local people and businesses to help us out and as such would encourage as many people as possible to come along to our breakfast event this year.”

The Foyle Fundraising Breakfast runs from 7.30 until 10am and costs £12.50 per person for a full cooked breakfast with tea, coffee and pastries.

Tickets can be purchased from the Waterfoot Hotel in advance or on the day, or by contacting Deidre McLaughlin on 07791 334 259 or [email protected].

The NSPCC in Foyle are also urgently looking for volunteer counsellors for their ChildLine service in the city – those interested can call 020 7456 7770 for more information on what is involved.
