Alderman Jim Dillon, Chairman of the Council’s Economic Development Committee, said: “This is a great opportunity for our local business community to think about new ideas of how they can develop their business. We are very happy to partner with the Management and Leadership Network during Management Month to make this opportunity available. One of the Council’s key themes is increased collaboration and this is a great demonstration of how we can work together for the benefit of the local economy.”

This free event is being hosted by Lisburn Council in partnership with the Management & Leadership Network (MLN), Bailey Waste Recycling NI and Solmatix. It is designed to give local business owners practical advice and guidance which will help them to succeed in this challenging economic environment.

Chris Conway added: “The people who manage and lead within a firm have a responsibility to ensure that the business and its people are performing to the optimum level. I have learnt many lessons over the years from local people I have worked with as well as those I deal with on an international level. As such, I am very happy to be able to share some of these with businesses in the Lisburn area.”

The purpose of Management Month is to highlight the need for owners and managers to invest in the development of management and leadership capabilities to ensure their future success.

Supporting this, Richard Bell said: “We are now in our fourth year of trading and Solmatix’s growth has exceeded expectations. This has put pressure on the business but has brought home the value of the experience and development I gained early on in my career. I’m now investing heavily in the development of the whole team so that we are well prepared for the move to the next level”

Andrew Bailey concluded: “So many people are inclined to over-complicate their business. In my opinion, there are simple principles and actions that can be adopted to bring about a smooth running; profitable organisation and these are so often forgotten in today’s environment. A straightforward approach works for me, so hopefully others will benefit from hearing about how I do business.”
