BREAKING: Man dies after Mountsandel burglary

A 72 year old man has died following an aggravated burglary at his home in the Mountsandel area of Coleraine.

At approximately 1.30am on the morning of Monday 30 April, it is believed that a man entered the house of an elderly couple in Glenmore Gardens via a rear window.

An altercation occurred between this intruder and the 72 year old man who lived in the house.

A short time later the elderly householder died. The alarm was raised by the elderly man’s wife.

The intruder is described as being tall, wearing a dark coloured coat, light grey jogging bottoms and he spoke with a local accent.

Police are appealing to anyone with any information or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in area around that time to get in touch with them on 0845 600 8000.
