Outgoing Deputy Mayor Colin McCusker has taken a step up to take over the Mayor’s post while Sinn Fein’s Catherine Seeley takes the Deputy Mayor’s position.

The move at this evening’s (June 10) Council AGM has prompted a furious reaction from the DUP who have accused the UUP of doing dirty deals.

Commenting on Facebook this evening outgoing Mayor Cllr Mark Baxter said: “Yes folks the UUP have done a deal with Sinn Fein to deliver a first Sinn Fein to the top table, McCusker is mayor and Catherine Seeley is deputy. So much for unionist unity! Voting against our candidate to allow Sinn Fein in. Unreal.”
