Breathe Easy Causeway Group starts new season

MAJOR changes in the organisation of British Lung Foundation services in Northern Ireland are expected soon.

An initial announcement is expected to be made at the September meeting of Breathe Easy Causeway, a top subsidiary of BLF, to launch the new 2010-2011 season.

New Breathe Easy Chairperson, Mrs Pamela Hegarty, said: “Breathe Easy Causeway has in recent years been a big success story as far as the British Lung Foundation is concerned.

“However, there is an acute awareness that much more needs to be done throughout Northern Ireland where group activity is generally weak.

“There needs to be a vigorous campaign to attract new members. How best this can be done will be the centrepiece of the new management strategy to be announced by BLF.

“There are exciting and challenging times ahead and Breathe Easy Causeway will play its full part in any new initiative.”

Breathe Easy Causeway meets at the Causeway Hospital on the first Thursday of each month from September to June and Mrs Hegarty is spearheading a drive to attract new members.

She said: “We are determined to adapt to the challenge of change and we welcome new members to help us generate new ideas.”

This new season, for the first time, a period is being set aside for Pilates to help encourage better self-fitness.

As well, Mrs Anne Lynwood, the BLF nurse for the Causeway area, is making herself available before the start of each meeting to allow members to consult privately with her on their breathing concerns.
