Libraries across Northern Ireland are inviting budding artists, young and old, to drop in and draw.

With books on hand for inspiration, and pencils and paper readily available, library venues are the perfect places to release creative sparks.

Valerie Christie, Senior Children and Young People Services Manager with Libraries NI, explained: “Libraries NI is delighted to support National Drawing Day and would encourage people of all ages to visit their local library to flourish their artistic capabilities.”

Organised by the National Gallery of Ireland, 2015 is the 11th anniversary of Nationwide Drawing Day.

Held annually in May, it has been going from strength to strength with increasing numbers of participants visiting museums, libraries, cultural and arts centres to join in.

No booking is necessary, just drop in to a library near you – feel free to bring your own sketchbook, pencils and ideas.
