Shea Haughian (18), Glenholme Avenue, Lurgan, at a previous hearing of Craigavon Magistrates Court, admitted criminal damage to a window on April 30 this year.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report. The court heard that just before midnight a window was damaged at Amigos in William Street, Lurgan. The defendant was interviewed and offered to pay for the damage.

Later the injured party contacted the police and said that Haughian had refused to pay for the damage. It cost £370 to replace the window and £40 to replace the logo on the window.

A defence barrister said Haughian did not have the means to pay for the damage. He added that his client could not explain the reason why he broke the window. He was completely intoxicated and remembered drinking Buckfast and vodka.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, imposed 160 hours community service and ordered Haughian to pay £410 compensation.
