Patrick David Francis Scullion, Derrymore Road, Craigavon, was fined £200 last Friday at the local court for not having insurance on January 22 this year.

He was also given six points and fined £75 for not having a test certificate for the scooter.

The court heard he was stopped at 11.45am and there was no insurance on the machine while the test certificate had expired on January 28, 2014.

Scullion, who pleaded guilty himself in court, said he normally rode a bicycle but the day before the chain had broken.

He explained that he had the scooter in the garage and stupidly took it out on the road. He bought it to use in the better weather.
