Broken hearted

Broken-hearted with grief, the mother of IRA murder victim Winston Cross marked the 40th anniversary of her son’s death on Tuesday.

The simple act of reflection, which included a piper’s lament and two-minute silence, was almost too much for Blanche Cross, who recently turned 80.

Supported by her daughter, sons and extended family, they were joined at Altnagelvin Cemetery by over 200 people who braved inclement weather to remember the 18-year-old.
