Brooke Park 3G facility completed

The 3G pitch is a key element of the overall Brooke Park Regeneration Project that is being undertaken to transform and revitalise this significant historic park in the city.

Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey MLA said: “This major regeneration project is an excellent example of the results which can be achieved through partnership working.

“I am delighted that my Department was able to provide grant funding to the Council to assist with delivery of this project which, when completed, will see the transformation of Brooke Park.

“This state of the art 3G Multi Use Games Area will accommodate a range of sports providing the opportunity for people in Londonderry to improve their health and well being through physical activity.”

Paul Mullan, Head of Heritage Lottery Fund NI, said: “Investing in our beautiful parks and open spaces is vital not only for the future of our natural heritage but also for our health, communities and sense of identity.

“We all benefit from spending time outside in the fresh air, so it’s vital that we look after our green spaces, particularly in dense urban areas. Thanks to National Lottery players, the Brooke Park Regeneration Project is well underway and helping make sure the park has a great future. Parks have always been a priority for HLF and since we first started to invest in them in 1996 we have awarded over £620million across the UK.”
