Broughshane’s Jubilee celebrations

AWARD winning village Broughshane is planning a very special Jubilee celebration.

Beginning on Tuesday, May 29, Broughshane Museum, located in the recently opened Broughshane House, will be putting on a special Jubilee Display.

The highlight of which is the display of one the dresses worn by one of the Royal Train Bearers, Lady Moyra Campbell, at the Coronation.

The highlight of the celebrations in the village will be a huge street party taking place in the Main Street on Monday, June 4 beginning at 7.00pm.

Local people are being invited to book a table and to celebrate the Jubilee with the rest of the community.

“We are planning to have wonderful evening,” said Sandy Wilson, Chairman of the Organising Committee. “There will be around 100 tables and we have been delighted with the support that local organisations and individuals have offered us for the evening.”

The evening will begin with a parade of local bands who will lead the Deputy Lieutenant for County Antrim Mr Steven Montgomery and the Mayor of Ballymena Clr. Hubert Nicholl to the centre of the village to officially open the Party. Face painting, balloon modelling and musical entertainment will ensure that all are royally entertained.

On Saturday, June 9, local business Jane’s Kitchen will host a Jubilee Tea Party at The Reading Room, Main Street, Broughshane. Tea and traditional refreshments will be served from 2.00pm and all proceeds will go to Community Association funds.
