Brownies scoop ice cream delight

TO celebrate the 100th anniversary of Guiding, the North Antrim County Brownies took over Hoy's Farmhouse Ice Cream recently.

The family business was started in 2007 and uses milk and cream from the 110 award winning cows. The pedigree herd has been cared for by the Hoy family for three generations. Visitors to the farm can see how milk from the cows is transformed to delicious ice cream in under an hour. The farm now has a wide range of mouth watering ice cream and sorbet flavours.

This is a very special year for Girl Guiding as the organisation celebrates 100 years. Back in 1909 it was through the perseverance of young girls that Lord Baden Powell agreed to set up an organisation for girls.

To mark this special occasion Hoy's have made a special ice cream called Causeway Explosion which was designed by a Bushmills Brownie and was made on the day. The yummy ice cream consists of exploding candy, vanilla and chocolate ice cream and Belgian chocolate topped off with sauce. Other activites at the farm included a tour of the farm, parachute games, obstacle course, craft, face painting and a campfire.

Guiding is a great active organisation for young women and those involved hope to have many more fun filled years and look forward to the new challenges ahead. If anyone would like to get involved in the organisation they welcome girls of any age so please get in touch with the headquarters on 02890425212.
