Brownlow Terrace work is welcomed

THE ROADS Service has been urged to tackle parking problems in Brownlow Terrace.

Dolores Kelly welcomed the work on the new pavements and kerbs in the street but said the issue of parking needed to be addressed.

She said: "The SDLP has made approaches to Roads Service over the years to have this work done and many people are supportive of the work.

"Having waited so long for work to start the residents are clearly delighted that their wishes have been granted."

Mrs Kelly continued: "Roads Service will now have to address the serious parking problems which have blighted Brownlow Terrace residents.

"Motorists who commute to Belfast and leave their cars parked in Brownlow Terrace cause all kinds of problems.

"Residents in this area and parents taking their children to the Model PS have had to weave their way through dozens of cars parked on the kerbs, not allowing prams or pushchairs to get through.

"It is also my hope that lorries will also stop parking on the kerbs, again stopping prams and pushchairs from using the safety of the new footpaths.

"Speed humps should also be an integral part of the traffic calming measures which will be employed in Brownlow Terrace. I am delighted that the residents of Brownlow Terrace will at last have a safe road for themselves and their children."
