An Education Authority spokesperson said: “A group of young people taking part in an Education Authority Youth Service trip to Brussels accompanied by three EA Officers had arrived at Brussels airport to catch their flight home around the time of the explosion.

“No one was injured and the group was immediately moved to a safe area where direct contact was made with the Authority and the parents of the young people. We are satisfied that all are safe and well.”

The group are expected to return home tonight on a flight from Amsterdam.
