Bryson to replace faulty recycling boxes in Ballymena

DURING the coming weeks Bryson Recycling will be replacing faulty kerbside boxes across households in Ballymena ahead of the new service which will be rolled out across the region from the start of June.

Boxes that were issued prior to 2008 were found to be defective, as they did not contain a UV filter which has caused them to fade and become brittle over time. Leeds based company, Straight Plc, who supply the boxes, has agreed to replace all boxes that have been affected by this issue, free of charge.

Bryson have stated that no action is required by residents as sub standard boxes will be removed from circulation by Bryson crews over the coming weeks as part of the normal collection cycle.

Eric Randall, Director of Bryson Recycling, said: “We are pleased that we have a resolution to this issue. It has been disappointing to see the quality of boxes deteriorate before their time, and we are satisfied that we can now ensure that all residents have good quality recycling containers in place before the launch of our new kerbside recycling service during the next few months.

“While it was very disappointing that residents were supplied with these faulty boxes, we are grateful to Straight PLC for agreeing to make the replacements at their own considerable expense. We realise that many of these boxes have already been replaced during the last few years, and a stock of boxes has been provided to allow for this.”
