Bubba Drews opens at Omniplex cinema

Bubba Drews opened its doors last Friday at the Omniplex at Highfield, Craigavon and already has been doing a booming trade.

Among the 50 staff, nine chefs have been hired for the kitchen.

Workmen are toiling away at The Sassy Elephant next door, which is expected to open its doors this weekend.

And the third eaterie, The Studio Grill is set to open in September.

All three are part of the Revolutionary Burgers Group which also owns such restaurants as Blue Chicago.

Manager Aoife McGonnell said: “Our first weekend went great.”

Bubba Drews is open from 10am with last orders at 10pm and has a spectacularly varied menu.

It even offers a call and collect service.

Since opening at the end of March the Omniplex has been a mega success and has proven to be very popular with young and old from the local area and far beyond.

The cinema - which cost more than £5m - has ample parking space for visitors and all eight screen rooms including the giant MAXX screen have been busy since it opened.

“Not only are we proud to have brought up to 100 new jobs to the local population, we hope the state of the art cinema technology we have provided will be an added tourist attraction as well as a valuable local recreational amenity,” said cinema owner Paul Anderson.

The Omniplex is one of numerous cinemas operated by the Anderson family. Around 35 people are employed in the cinema itself. The MAXX cinema in Craigavon will be the third of its kind in Omniplex cinemas in Ireland with Newry and Rathmines boasting the other two.
