Buckley welcomes ban on '˜legal highs'
Councillor Jonathan Buckley has welcomed the news in recent days that the Psychoactive Substances Act has come into force.
“It is a positive step forward in our fight against such dangerous substances that the Psychoactive Substances Act has now come into force,” he said.
“Ultimately, a blanket ban on the sale, supply, importation and exportation of what has formerly been referred to as ‘legal highs’ is now in place.
“On top of this, those who deal in psychoactive substances now face up to seven years imprisonment as the trade has become illegal.”
