Funding cuts are preventing TransportNI from carrying out weed spraying along public footpaths.

Responding to concerns raised by a Whitehead resident, a DRD spokeswoman said: “The funding pressures faced by the Department in 2015-16 means that we will be unable to carry out any weed spraying this year.

“Some manual weed removal may be carried out on a priority basis, subject to available resources.”
