‘Budget carefully’ for Christmas says Magherafelt based Debt Action NI

Mid-Ulster people are being advised to budget carefully as the shopping build up to Christmas starts in earnest.

Magherafelt-based Aidan Gribben, of Debt Action NI, is expecting to deal with many problems associated with overspending at Christmas in the New Year.

He regularly sees clients from the Magherafelt, Cookstown and Dungannon areas who have over stretched their finances.

To coincide with the start of the festive season, NI Debt Action has produced a useful resource of top 10 tips to help people to manage their money better and to reduce post- Christmas debt.

Mr Gribben said the Christmas period is a time when people tend to overspend and Debt Action NI fears that some may turn to high interest credit such as payday loans, door step lenders and even illegal lenders for help during the festive period.
