Buggy rules to be reviewed

TRANSLINK have said they are to review their policy regarding double buggies following last week’s article in the Lurgan Mail.

The ‘MAIL’ reported how a woman was refused admittance onto an Ulsterbus service at Craigavon Hospital by a driver who it’s alleged wouldn’t open double doors to let her on.

A Translink spokesperson said: “We recommend that passengers in wheelchairs alert us in advance of their intention to travel so that we can ensure a suitable vehicle is operated on their journey.

“We are currently reviewing our policy on how we accommodate larger mobile carriers such as children’s double buggies.

“We apologise for any distress and inconvenience caused to the passenger by her recent experience.”
