Bulgarian Rotarians visit Larne

The Rotary Club of Larne hosted an exchange visit last week with the Rotary Club of Karnobat Bulgaria.

A group of 14 Rotarians travelled 2,500 miles from Karnobat to Larne. President Penka Zlatanova from Karnobat was warmly welcomed by President Gordon Cowie, and the groups exchanged groups. They visited Glenarm Castle and gardens as well as the Giant’s Causeway, Bushmills Distillery and Dunluce Castle. The party also visited Belfast’s Titanic Visitors Centre and the Ulster Museum.

Mayor of Karnobat Georgiev Dimitrov is a past President of Karnobat Rotary Club. Mayor Georgiev and the visitors met with Mid and East Antrim Mayor Billy Ashe in Larne town hall, followed by Deputy Lord Mayor Guy Spence in Belfast. The visitors were hosted by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Christy Burke in the Mansion House in Dublin. The Rotary Clubs are already planning an return visit next May.
