Bull loose on M1 after crash

Police had to shoot a bull running loose on the M1 near Lurgan following a single vehicle Road Traffic Collision (RTC) on Friday night.

Police said they shot the animal as it was considered to be a danger to motorists.

The animal escaped from a trailer after the vehicle towing it crashed. The driver was not seriously injured.

The incident happened around 9.20pm between the Lurgan and M12 junctions.

Police managed to get the bull over to the side of the road, but could not get it back into the trailer and they were forced to shoot.

The road was reopened at about 11:40pm.
