Bumper Christmas trade for Rushmere

Rushmere had another successful Christmas period, according to a statement issued by centre management.

They have also reported what they termed as ‘bumper post Christmas sales’.

It’s news that will hardly come as a shock to anyone who passed Rushmere in the run-up to Christams with a very high volume of traffic on roads approaching the
centre.

Rushmere Shopping Centre Manager, Martin Walsh, said: “We’re pleased to report yet another consecutive year of growth following a successful Christmas trading period and bumper post-Christmas sales.

“The volume of visitors to the centre in December was up overall and ahead of our expectations, rising by three percent in the week before Christmas compared with the same period in 2014.

“The festive period saw exceptionally robust sales for our stores in all sectors, including food, fashion and footwear. The overwhelming majority of retailers reported excellent trading – some of which have also recorded sales which saw them listed top of their region in their overall store rankings.

“This is a good indication of just how well the centre has traded.

“Rushmere gift card sales also sharply increased – up 40 percent compared to last year – and these will translate into important sales for our retailers into the New Year.

“Post-Christmas sales have also been strong, with some retailers reporting their busiest trading days of the year on Boxing Day and the first Monday after Christmas as shoppers made the most of the great offers available.

“These figures are very reassuring and we’re confident that 2016 will be another good year for Rushmere Shopping Centre as it continues to welcome shoppers from across Northern Ireland and further
afield.”
