Burglaries were linked

A SPATE of four burglaries in the Waterside area of Londonderry last week were linked according to police in Foyle.

The PSNI is hunting the people responsible for four separate burglaries in the Hazelwood Avenue, Prehen Road and Woodfield areas during the early hours of March 23rd.

A black Nissan, registration WOO 2197, was taken during one of the incidents. A man wearing a beanie hat was seen acting suspiciously in the area around 3am.

Other incidents under investigation include a break-in at a garage in the Paddock Lane area sometime between 8.30pm on Monday (21st) and 6.30am the following day. A drill and a hedge trimmer were taken.

At 5.35am on Thursday police received a report of an Audi car abandoned on the Northland Road close to the fire station.

The vehicle had been taken from a house at Claremont Manse during an overnight burglary. Items including a TV and laptop computer were also taken from the house and have not been recovered.

Lead was stolen from the roof of premises in Gransha Park. The incident was reported to police on March 22nd.

A black wooden jewellery box with gold leaf pattern was stolen during the burglary of a house in Bracken Park sometime during March 18th. The box contained gold jewellery which has sentimental value to the owner.

A camera, Nintendo Wii and games were stolen during the burglary of a house on Governor Road sometime between 3pm and 8.45pm on March 22nd. Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw suspicious activity in a nearby alleyway.

A car was set on fire and damage caused to windows during a burglary at business premises on Groarty Road on March 20th. A grinder and a spade were also stolen.

Substantial damage was caused to a building site on Creggan Road between 6pm on March 21st and 9am the following day. A timber storage unit and three sets of stairs were set on fire and damage was caused to windows and a water tank.

A man was left with a suspected broken nose after he was assaulted by two men in the Glen Road area around 1.30am on March 18th. The men left in a red Peugeot 306.

Police are investigating an altercation involving two children in the green area close to Bradley Park around 9pm on March 22nd. A 10 year old male was struck on the mouth.
