Burglars hit local schools

A POLICE chief has slammed thieves who targeted Ballymoney High School.

Inspector David Anderson said such thefts hit school budgets and that ultimately it is the children who lose out.

Five mobile classrooms were targeted overnight on February 1/2 and items taken included a Dell Latitude laptop computer and docking station, a NEC NP100 data projector and a red Sony CD player.

Police attended the scene and forensic examinations were carried out and enquiries are ongoing.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in and around the High School or from anyone who knows anything about the break-ins.

Inspector Anderson said: “This sort of theft has to be paid for out of the school budget and these were items that are available for pupils to learn so it is the pupils who suffer in such cases.”
