Burglars strike in broad daylight on opposite sides of town: PSNI think it's the same gang

Brazen burglars stole cash and jewellery from houses during break-ins in broad daylight on the opposite sides of town last weekend and the PSNI believe it may have been the same gang.

Detectives are appealing for information following a burglary that occurred in the Knightsbridge area of Londonderry on the afternoon of Friday, February 12.

Sometime between 3pm and 7.30pm, a house was broken into. A sum of money and jewellery was taken.

This incident is being linked to another burglary that occurred at a house in the Woodbrook area sometime between 4.30pm and 11.45pm on Saturday 13 February. A quantity of jewellery and a sum of money was taken from this house.

Detective Constable Joanne Kavanagh said: “I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the areas, or who knows anything about either of these burglaries, to contact detectives at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
