“One issue that affects many people in the village, from school children to pensioners is the lack of a bus shelter. Many years ago there was a bus shelter, but due to vandalism and anti social behaviour the shelter was removed and never replaced,” they said.

“It is the general consensus among the local people that a bus shelter is vital for our community.

“To overcome these issues Cllr McKeown and Mr Wilson began talks with the local residents, including Balnamore community group and Balnamore School. We also liaised with our local neighbourhood policing team, traffic police and the D.O.E.

“Anti social incidents in Balnamore have recently been virtually non existent. This fact, along with an agreement for a location for the shelter, have cleared the way for progress to be made.

“We are delighted how the different groups and people in the village have worked so closely with us so that we can facilitate their plans. We will continue to drive this process forward until a satisfactory outcome is achieved.”
