Bushmills Peace Group Lenten breakfast

ABOUT 80 members and friends of Bushmills Peace Group met in St Patrick's Parish Hall, Portrush recently to share the sixth annual Lenten Breakfast . Fr. Rory Sheehan welcomed the Guest Speaker, the Revd. Michael Barton who, in turn, introduced his friends 'Gus' and 'Tom'.

In an entertaining and thought-provoking talk the Revd. Barton stressed that Lent should be not only a time of self denial, hence GUS, (Give Up Something) but also a time to think beyond oneself, TOM, (Take On More). He explained that while it is certainly a time for self-criticism when one works to strengthen one’s relationship with God, it should also be a preparation for mission so that one might enter a fuller relationship with one another.

This was a morning of special fellowship, a feast for body, (with thanks to the cooks), and soul (with thanks to Revd. Barton). Bushmills Peace Group would like to thank everyone for coming and for their generous donations which amounted to 600 which will be divided between Trocaire and Christian Aid. Tom will be pleased!
