Business as usual despite water damage to community house

'BUSINESS as usual' is the message from Lisburn North Community Association after they were devastated by the water damage caused to their community house this week.

Following the hard frost and subsequent thaw the Association house in Drumard Court suffered severe damage to its roof and major repair work will have to be carried out before it can be occupied again.

However, despite this set back the Association are determined to continue their work and Trinity Methodist Church and Community Venue have stepped in to allow the Association to use their facilities until repair work is completed.

Lagan Valley MLA Jonathan Craig, who facilitated a meeting between the Church and the Association, said: "The group are absolutely determined to keep going. I am pleased Trinity Methodist Church have agreed to provide accommodation for the senior citizens and other groups from Lisburn North for the immediate future until repairs are carried out.

"I would like to thank the church for the kindness they have shown at this time," he added.

Chairman of Lisburn North Community Association, Jimmy Millar, also expressed his thanks to Trinity Methodist Church for their help.

He continued: "I would also like to thank the Housing Executive who were very quickly on the job when the damage was reported and Councillor Jonathan Craig who facilitated the meeting with Trinity Methodist Church.

"We are down but not out and we hope the repairs can be completed as soon as possible," he added.
