Business asusual atHarry’s Road

LOCAL MLA Edwin Poots has met with Eamonn McMahon, Section Engineer for the Roads Service to discuss the closure of Harry’s Road while road works are taking place after complaints from businesses in the area that customers thought they were not operating as normal.

He commented: “After being contacted by concerned businesses on Harry’s Road, I met with Councillor Paul Stewart, Roads Service and traders to discuss their concerns about the closure of the road and how road signage could be improved.

“The Roads Service gave a commitment to improve signage on the main A1 Road, to make customers aware that the businesses are still trading. In addition Roads Service said they will ensure the road is fully opened at weekends.

“This is one of the busiest times of the year for many businesses and therefore it is vital that Roads Service minimise the impact on these particular companies”.

Mr Poots continued: “Roads Service is currently laying water drainage pipes on this road, and work will be carried out over a 4 week period. However, this area will be resurfaced and this work will prove beneficial for all road users. People need to be aware that these businesses are still trading and the public can gain access to them via the A1.”
