Business community giveswarm welcome to new firm

The Londonderry Chamber of Commerce has given a warm welcome to the announcement that One Source is creating 289 jobs in Londonderry.

Chief executive Sinead McLaughlin said: “Not only will there be 289 extra jobs in the city, but also these are very well paid jobs in an important sector of the modern economy.

“We praise Invest NI for its commitment of more than £2.8m investment into the city to attract these jobs. The new jobs will generate £12m a year into the local economy, which will spread out into the wider economy and so create other jobs in other sectors, for example in retail and hospitality. Derry-Londonderry now has an exceptional presence in the digital sectors. We have a very strong cluster of digital, cultural and creative businesses. One Source joins other respected and international names that have large operations in the city. This fits with the strategy advocated by the Chamber of Commerce and that was central to the One Plan strategy

“The announcement also underlines the importance of links between employers and local higher and further education providers.”

According to the Jobs Minister most employees will have the potential of earning £36,000 per year and at full tilt the new workforce will be contributing £12m in salaries to the local economy.

That would mean an impressive before-tax average of over £40,000 per Londonderry employee.

One Source are advertising for 17 junior developer roles and six consultant roles, where the salary range is actually given. Ten analysts will start on between £22,000 and £26,000, whilst seven ‘Workday’ analysts will start on between £26,000 and £30,000. Four senior human capital management analysts will be paid between £30,000 and £45,000 and two further senior analysts will get between £40,000 and £50,000.
