Business hooks up with charity to recycle

A local firm has hooked up with Bryson Recycling to help boost funds for a NI charity.

They plan to help raise funds for Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

Cherry Pipes who employ 65 people across sites in Lurgan, Dungannon and Crumlin are involved in the initiative. They take consumer plastic packaging and reprocess it into high quality recycled pellet which is then used to manufacture drainage coils and twinwall pipes for the agricultural, civil engineering and construction industries throughout the UK & Europe.

For every tonne collected each week by Bryson, the partners will donate £1 to the nominated charity.

It’s estimated that through the Recycling Rewards campaign, up to £9.1 million could be generated and circulated back into the local economy by working with other business to reprocess recycled goods.

The Children’s Heartbeat Trust is a local charity who provide practical and emotional support to children and young people affected by heart disease and their families.

The year-long ‘Recycling Rewards’ initiative was developed by Bryson Recycling in a bid to encourage people to recycle more paper, glass and plastics. For every tonne of these materials collected through their kerbside box service, the partners Cherry Pipes, Encirc and Huhtamaki Lurgan have pledged to donate £1 to Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

Weekly household collections are carried out across five council areas; Antrim and Newtownabbey, Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon, Belfast, Lisburn and Castlereagh and Mid Ulster and East Antrim.
