Mid & East Antrim Council has approved a budget of £12,000, at committee level, to deliver three of the events between January and March, 2016.

Prior to giving approval, the Economic Growth & Development Committee heard that holding a Meet the Buyer event in Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne would give businesses the chance to meet buyers and identify new sales opportunities in the private sector, local government and central government organisations.

Businesses who took part would be able to engage directly with buyers in focused one-to-one sales meetings with a view to winning business, growing sales and creating new employment opportunities, the committee was told.

Members were also informed that an analysis of need for the events identified limited provision in Mid & East Antrim for businesses to access opportunities to meet such buyers and that the events will be facilitated for Council by LEDCOM and delivered by a third party consultancy at an estimated cost of £4,000 per event.
