Busy month at Hill Croft School

AFTER an unexpected three-week closure during February, March turned out to be a very busy month for staff and pupils at Hill Croft School.

Pupils at the New Mossley school showcased their talents at the ‘Special School Choir of the Year’ competition and in the ‘Sportshall Athletics Competition 2013’, producing winning performances in both events.

Children from the junior school worked very hard during the ‘Week of Kindness’, visiting a local fold to share their kindness with people from the local community.

On ‘International School Meals Day’ (March 8) the pupils and staff enjoyed a delicious international lunch prepared on the premises by the school’s kitchen staff. Each class decorated their own dining table and went all out to celebrate the event.

The following week it was Red Nose Day (March 15), and the school’s ‘Wacky Hair Day’, a ‘Red Nose Assembly’ and a school disco proved a big hit as staff and pupils raised the grand total of £413 for Comic Relief.

Hill Croft School was closed as a precautionary measure on February 1 following the discovery of Legionella bacteria in an unused shower block during a routine water testing programme. However, following extensive remedial work to the school’s water system it’s been business as usual since the Manse Way school reopened on February 25.
