Busy schedule for East Coast AC runners

East Coast AC runners Justin and Catherine Maxwell travelled south on Saturday, to the stunning Wicklow Mountains for the annual Wicklow Way 25k Trail Race.

Justin Maxwell finished in the top ten, completing the course in a time of 2:08:06 (10th place) and the 2nd Northern Irish finisher. Catherine Maxwell secured 16th place in the ladies category when she finished in 3:08:58.

The weekend action commenced in Omagh on Saturday when a number of East Coast AC members took on the well-organised SPAR Omagh Half Marathon.

In blustery conditions, Andy Guy completed the 13.1 mile route in an impressive 1:18:16, which secured him 20th place and a new half marathon personal best. Murray Deller was next to finish, completing the course in 1:31:05 to take 163rd place. In running his second half marathon in as many weeks for the East Coast AC charity of the year ‘PIPS Larne’, Brian Maltman bettered his Larne Half Marathon time by over ten minutes when he crossed the line in 1:41:13 (399th place). Another Larne Half Marathon finisher, Paul Clements secured 679th place overall when he clocked a time of 1:50:32 for the course. Sharon Kirkpatrick achieved a new half marathon person best of 2:08:20 (291st place lady) proving that all her hard work in training has paid off. Kelly Deller followed in a time of 2:18:23 to take 361st place (ladies).

Ballyliffin Coastal 10 mile Challenge

Also on Saturday, Jacque Craig and Karl Joyce travelled to County Donegal (Ireland) for the annual Ballyliffin 10 mile Challenge, a tough event which takes competitors over a scenic multi-terrain course.

Karl completed the undulating course in a time of 1:20:10, securing 374th place overall, followed by his mother Jacque in 1:25:55 (323rd place).
