Busy summer at Redhall

The Riding Centre Redhall - based in Ballycarry - has once again had an enjoyable summer, as under the experienced instruction of proprietor Daniel Silverson BHSAI, three very successful pony camps were held.

The first two camps were for the more inexperienced riders and involved basic instruction in riding and stable management. All riders thoroughly enjoyed themselves going home with plenty of prizes and rosettes.

A teenage camp was held at the end of August with 14 riders participating in dressage, jumping and cross-country.

Stable management was also included with the help of Laura Welsh.

On the final day, a jump-cross competition was held which was full of thrills and spills and ended with a barbecue.

Apart as the camps, pupils at the riding centre have also enjoyed various discipline specific lessons, the most popular being show jumping.

Liveries enjoyed an outing in June to Ballinteggart Stud by kind invitation of Helen Troughton, who gave a guided tour of the stallions, mares and foals and the A.I. laboratory from where samples are sent around the world.

Congratulations must go to pupils from the riding centre who competed in the Redhall Riding Club team jumping competition at Knockaghview.

The two teams finished a creditable fourth and sixth out of 10 teams.

More events are in the pipeline for autumn and winter.
