Busy year for Baillies Mills Accordion Band

BAILLIES MILLS: Preparations are now well advanced for the visit by Baillies Mills Accordion Band to London to take part in the Lord Mayor’s Show later this year.

The Lord Mayor’s Show, which passes well known landmarks such as St Paul’s Cathedral, has been taking place in London since 1215. The invitation is the latest in a series of prestigious overseas engagements for the Band, following recent visits to Jersey and Norway.

In 2011 the band fulfilled a record 45 engagements and it looks as if 2012 will be even busier, with the diary for 2013 now starting to fill up.

Local engagements this month for the Band have included participation in a Service of Praise and Thanksgiving at St James Parish Church, Lower Kilwarlin, to mark the opening of the old school as a Church Hall. Also, last week they hosted a concert with a capacity audience in Railway Street Presbyterian Church featuring the Band with Bakerloo Junction’s Noel McMaster, Conal McCartney and Jordan Humphries.

On April 14 the Band are back in the Lagan Valley Island Hall for a concert hosted by Lisburn Ladies Community Choir.
