CAB extends advice service

NEWTOWNABBEY Citizens Advice Bureau has extended its services to provide additional out-of-hours advice.

The extended opening hours at the CAB’s office in Rathcoole will enable staff to provide more face-to-face assistance for people with pre-arranged appointments and additional telephone advice services.

In addition to the regular services already provided at the Dunannney Centre, advice is now available every Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm and every Saturday from 9am to 1pm.

The extra advice services, which will be provided until the end of March, are being paid for by grant funding of 18,927 from the Department for Social Development.

CAB District Manager, Pat Hutchinson, revealed that the out-of-hours service has already taken dozens of calls from people with queries about redundancy, people seeking advice about benefit entitlements and many with concerns about debt.

People can call in on either of the numbers - 9085 2271 or 9085 2400. A lot of people have been phoning in who would’ve been at work and wouldn’t have had the chance to call during the day, so it’s been very useful,” she said.
