Cage football event to be held in Dromore

This week young people in Dromore are being offered the chance to enjoy cage football when the Nomad cage arrives in the town.

The portable football project will be outside Banbridge Road Presbyterian Church from 7.30pm – 9.30pm on Friday February 21.

Jonathan Murphy, Vice Chair of Banbridge PCSP commented: “I would strongly encourage young people to come along this Friday to take part in this unique sporting event.

“It is an excellent opportunity for young people to get together for a fun activity with qualified sports coaches, and also gives them an opportunity to find out about other youth provision in the Banbridge area.”

The Nomad Football Cage is a large transportable cage in which people play two against two football for two minutes and the winners stay on.

The project is run by sports coaches who volunteer for Youth for Christ, and the sessions across the Banbridge District are being funded through Banbridge Policing and Community Safety Partnership who secured funding from the Department of Justice’s Asset Recovery Community Scheme, funding that comes from assets seized from criminals, with match funding from Banbridge District Council’s Good Relations Department. The event is also supported by Banbridge PSNI.

The football cage is free of charge and caters for all ages. For more information about sessions contact Banbridge District Community Safety Partnership on 028 4062 0246 or e-mail [email protected]
