She was encouraged to audition by Waringstown drummer Mark Wilson who worked with Corry on On Eagle’s Wing.

She said: “I didn’t really know what it was for but I went along for an audition. When I got there all the others were classically trained singers. I’m more of contemporary singer and I thought I would stick out like a sore thumb.

“I turned up with my guitar to play You Me At Six. I couldn’t believe it when they told me I’d got a part as one of the singers.

“Only then did I find out a bit more about the show and realise how big it was.

“There’s quite a few songs throughout the show. It’s a collection of Christmas music tied together by a story.”

She added: “I did the Queen’s Jubilee garden party in June last year. There was a big crowd at it but that wasn’t really the same thing as a stage show in the Waterfront.

“I’m really excited but also nervous. Once we get closer to the date it’s starting to feel more real.”

The Music Box takes place in the Waterfront on Friday, December 20 and Saturday, December 21.

It has rapidly evolved into one of the country’s most successful and best loved Christmas family shows.

Last Christmas Caitlin Cousins helped raise funds for the homeless charity the Simon Community when she provided the vocals on the single ‘Christmas is coming around’, written by well known Northern Ireland songwriter and musician, Brian McAteer.

Brian wrote the song to bring a fresh slant on Christmas music and also reflect the true

meaning of Christmas.

Caitlin was asked to record the song after working with Brian and the cross-cultural group

Bearnagh at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Stormont, in June earlier this

year.

Brian explained, “Having performed with Caitlin this year, I really wanted Caitlin to bring

her fresh style and talented Indie vocals to this up-beat song.”
