Call for resurfacing work in Aghagallon

THERE'S been a call for resurfacing work on the road through the Parknasilla estate in Aghagallon.

Sinn Fein Cllr Mairead O’ Dowd has written to the Roads Service regarding the condition of the roadway following a number of complaints from local residents.

The councillor said: “Residents from Parknasilla have contacted both myself and the Sinn Fin Office about the poor condition of the roads within the estate.”

Councillor O’Dowd explained the problem had been caused by various utility suppliers consistently digging up the road surface over a period of years with the result that “the roadway now resembles a patch work quilt more than it does a road surface.”

Mairead went on to say there had been an unprecedented amount of digging work carried out at this location and noted she had been told by one resident: “The last time the road was resurfaced it was dug up again and patched within weeks by one of the utility companies. Because of the exceptional amount of patching at this location I have asked Road Services to carry out an inspection of this roadway with a view to having it included in their resurfacing programme.”
