Call for volunteers for World Police and Fire Games

MID-ULSTER UUP MLA Sandra Overend, is urging people to get involved and volunteer for the World Police and Fire Games, which will be held in Belfast from August 1 to 10 next year.

In August next year, the World Police and Fire Games will bring over 25,000 people from over 70 countries to Northern Ireland.

“This will include 10,000 competitors and following the success of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the organisers of the Police and Fire Games are hoping to encourage 3,500 people to volunteer to deliver a fantastic event,” explained the MLA.

“If you are over 16 you can play a part in this once in a lifetime event. You can help out both on and off the field of play, including being part of the opening ceremony, volunteering at a sports venue, accreditation or transporting and welcoming athletes.”

And she added: “We all saw how the volunteers in London made such a notable mark at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. I would encourage anyone in Mid-Ulster who would like to help make the World Police and Fire Games a success to get involved.”

You can get an application form online at www.2013wpfg.com/volunteers, which has to be completed by October 31. For more information you can call 028 9023 2020 or email [email protected].
