The group says volunteering helps maintain and improve emotional wellbeing because people become connected, active, take notice of their surroundings, keep learning and are giving of themselves.

Going into the New Year the Northern Ireland-wide organisation is encouraging people to think about their physical and emotional wellbeing and to take a step into the world of volunteering so that they impact positively in the lives of others.

“Connecting with people and giving something back not only helps others, but is proven to make us feel better about ourselves,” a spokesperson for the organisation said.
