Shane Joseph McCrory, Beech Court, Lurgan, admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour when he appeared last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

A taxi came from the Kilwilkie Road and the defendant got out.

He shouted ‘scum’ at a police officer.

He began speaking into a mobile phone and police heard him saying they were ‘scum’ and other profanities.

McCrory continued to shout and when police approached him they could detect a strong smell of alcohol from the defendant.

They told him his behaviour was unacceptable and he should desist but McCrory said he wouldn’t and continued to call officers scum.

He also refused to provide his details and was cautioned.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said McCrory had a sporadic and recurring record and he would require a pre-sentence report.

He adjourned the case until July 31 he warned the defendant that if he did not co-operate with the report he would be facing custody given his record.
