Cambridge results impressive

Pupils attained an impressive 95% 5A*/A-C, an increase of 3% from 2011-12, while at 7A*/A-C the results were 92%, an improvement of 14% from last year and an overall rise of 22% in the last two years, principal Elma Lutton reported.

She said: “As with the recent successes at AS and A2 level this is a strong and pleasing upward trend which is set to continue.”

Congratulations were extended to four top pupils, Karys Dickson and Aaron Henry, who each achieved 10 A* grades and one A grade and to Julie Moore who gained 10 A*/A grades and Dean McCaw who gained 11A*/A grades

Karys Dickson said: “I am really pleased with my results and grateful to all my teachers for their help over the years.”

Dean McCaw said: “At Cambridge House I have been pushed to achieve the very best in both the academic and creative fields.”

The school recorded 14 high achieving subject departments with 100% pass rates, while the majority of the remaining departments attained over 90% pass rates.

Mrs Lutton congratulated the pupils and attributed their success, as with the AS and A2 level results, not only to their own hard work but also to the positive support of their parents and to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school.

She said: “The pupils express it best in their own words of thanks to their teachers and in acknowledging the need to work hard in order to achieve success. This is a school which produces sound results and well educated young people, sure of their own place in our society, ambitious and individually realistic about the next stage in their career pathway to employment.”
