Paul Frew, the North Antrim DUP MLA has backed a campaign by parents in the Broughshane area who say they need more challenging play equipment in the park .

He explains “ I can completely understand the frustrations of parents , grandparents and children when they contact me complaining about the basic nature of Broughshane park .

“They will always mention and look to other parks in other council areas and compare with what they have on their doorstep.”

“This is something that Council will have to grapple with and I believe that Council should add more adventurous play equipment to our largest villages and most visited areas.

Cllr. Frew added: “It is important that our children use structure play which is safe and free .

“We do a great job at providing facilities for organised sports but not every one can make the team and not everyone can afford to play sports regularly and that is why play parks are vital for younger children. I support the communities efforts one hundred percent .”
